The Clever Spreader® fits standard U.S. Elgin-style 1/4 lb (4 oz) butter sticks (also known as East Coast butter)—approximately 5″ x 1.25″—as well as half sticks found nationwide. It does not fit the shorter, wider West Coast butter sticks (Western “stubbies”)—approximately 3–3.5″ long × 1.5″ wide.

Yes—just remove the Cap, place the Base and Cap on the top rack, and the Push in the silverware basket. Please wash before first use.

FDA food-safe, non-leaching polypropylene that is BPA, BPS, PVC, PFOA and phthalate-free.

Just follow these 3 steps:

1. Prep It: Place the Base upright on a flat surface and drop the Push into the Base—making sure it sits flat at the bottom (give it a gentle shake or adjust from the bottom hole if needed).

2. Load It: Remove wax paper and insert one Elgin-style butter stick fully into the Base.

3. Spread It: Hold butter-side down and glide. After regular use or with a half stick, elevate the Push to raise butter to the surface for use. When done, attach the Cap and store in the refrigerator.

Yes, but margarine and plant-based options are oilier than dairy butter, so they may slide out more easily when spreading (butter-side down) onto pans, bakeware, or food. Clever Spreader® is designed for standard Elgin-style dairy butter sticks, found nationwide.

The Clever Spreader® is perfect for prepping cookware or bakeware, and great on favorite foods like toast, bagels, english muffins, biscuits, rolls, pancakes, waffles, fresh toast, corn on the cob, other veggies, potatoes and more. Just prep it, load it, spread it…love it!

For best results when containing butter, keep refrigerated. If you like to spread softer butter, just take it out of the fridge 5 minutes prior to use to soften the butter.
